Have I told you just how much I love a flared trouser? The flare trend is so prevalent in this seasons spring summer 2017 campaigns. It a visible trend across designer collections filtering into retail stores. across both high-end, and Highstreet brands in a plethora of colors and styles. I am slowly losing my mind it’s that exciting.
Flares, Ruffles, Layers just provide my life with the right amount of DRAMA! And who, young sire, can live without drama? huh (Not me Hunny B ) I love the ripple effect that occurs as I stomp my way to my destination of the day. Are you with me?
Naturally, though I must admit, I am not one to follow a trend. I feel that in the fashion world, a trend is a specific look or a new way of styling and wearing an item. This is usually copied from season fashion shows and celebrity culture, And when it is identified by the media it Is automatically deemed as the new ‘TREND”
I will use Fishnet Tights as an example. There is a trend you have certainly seen where fishnet tights are worn as socks with high heels, or the tights themselves are worn under ripped jeans.
It is Likely that this was showcased at a Fall 2917 fashion by a revered designer and was then passed on watered down to celebrities and then down to fashionista’s as the cycle goes. READ HERE Article of the Khardasians giving the trend a go.
Now I’ll explain why I don’t usually succumb to any kind of trend.
Firstly, because It’s fleeting. Meaning it won’t be a long lasting trend and I can revisit it, so I won’t put much in my wardrobe.
Secondly, I believe a trend coerces you to Conform to a status quo and a clique and once in one in You achieve the title of trendy or in trend.
For a fashionista baby, it makes sense. You want to be seen you want to be noticed. You keep abreast of the new trends it’s fashion 101. The hierarchy whittles down From runway to celebrities from celebrities to the Fashion Trend setters. it’s the fashion cycle.
I’ll be honest because I have never been one to merge with an in the crowd, Within any period of my life, I Naturally find I have no desire to succumb to a trend. Or gain the title as a fashionista or an It girl. To be an IT girl means as the trend flips you flip. That my friend would relinquish me of my control as for me fashion isn’t about being Noticed or being vetted, to me fashion is about the expression of self and constantly following trends would strip me of my creativity and freedom as Every new day, I observe new inspirations from the past and also the present, and this above all informs my style and allows for my appearance to change on a day to day basis.
So overall, I gravitate toward pieces that can re emerge within my wardrobe over time. I try to purchase items that heighten my existing closet and above all, I really like to have fun with it all.
Hope you enjoy My take on these flares. Show me yours.
